Abstract
Online surveys are a vital tool to measure and benchmark specific research areas and disciplines. The Griffith online survey solution is a free service, available to Schools and Research Centres who require a surveying tool for research purposes only. The Griffith University Research Survey Centre uses Limesurvey, a trusted open source survey application.
The solution is locally hosted at Griffith University. All survey data is maintained on a secure server, and supported by the Research Computing Services staff at Griffith University. It has a sandpit environment is where researchers can create and edit a test version of a survey without ethics approval. However surveys cannot be activated in the sandpit environment. Sandpit surveys can be exported in CSV or XML format for later use in production. The production environment is where researchers create and publish their survey. They must obtain an ethics approval number and register to access the production environment.
There is also a Survey Archive that provides a secure storage for expired surveys. All survey data supported in LimeSurvey is migrated to the Survey Archive within thirty days and kept for a designated period (as may be required by statutory obligations).
