Abstract

Research into the Global challenges – health, climate change and global warming, all factors that affect life on the planet – often requires enabling complex collaboration. Enabling Virtual Organisations can overcome organisational barriers. A virtual organisation (VO) is a group of people or organisations beyond administrative and/or geographical boundaries who share resources and skills safely and securely to make complex collaborative decisions using advanced information and communication technology (ICT) in order to achieve a common goal. In this paper we present the impact of virtual organisations on eResearch in Victorian eco- and life sciences.
