About the speaker

Scott Parker has worked in the IT industry for 25 years, beginning his career in the UK in an IBM mainframe data centre, and following a traditional operations and systems programming career path. After a number of years programming on MVS & VM, using tools such as Assembler, PL/1 and REXX, Scott took the decision to specialize in the design and implementation of storage solutions. Scott joined StorageTek in 2000, specializing in the design of storage solutions based around tape, disk and archive software. With the takeover of StorageTek in 2005, Scott was able to move to Australia, taking up a storage architect position with Sun Microsystems. Scott now lives in Brisbane with his wife and two sons.
